World Tai Chi Day Saturday Workshop: April 27, 20234   9:30 - 11:30 AM

Explore the principles of tai chi with a specific focus on the often-underestimated practice of slow walking. Gain practical information to reduce the risk of falling and enhance balance, coordination, and relaxation. 

Workshop fee is $30 + $5 if live outside of Longview.

Beginner 11:00 - 11:50 AM (includes the FUNctional fitness)


Slow and gentle Tai Chi sequences to help improve balance, posture, and increase mindfulness to reduce stress and risk of falling. Integrated with low-impact functional fitness exercises to improve strength and mobility to enhance the ability to perform everyday activities efficiently and safely. Participate at own comfort level. Modifications (including chair support) are provided. Appropriate for individuals with arthritis and other chronic conditions. Wear clothing easy to move in and sneakers or flat, flexible fitness-type shoes or grip-socks that fully cover the foot. Please no sandals or flip flops.  Fragrance-free environment – thank you!

Intermediate 10:00 - 10:50 AM - Tai Chi for Health & Wellness 

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention - evidence-based program created by the Tai Chi for Health Institute - Dr. Paul Lam. Slow and gentle Sun (soon) style Tai Chi sequences and Qigong exercises to improve balance, mobility, posture and mindfulness to help reduce stress and risk of falling. Intermediate level Yang style is added. Modifications provided as needed. Appropriate for individuals with arthritis and other chronic conditions.

All classes can be done seated or standing. Wear clothing that is easy to move in and flat, flexible fitness-type shoes or grip-socks that fully cover foot. Please no sandals or flip flops.  Fragrance-free environment.
